Competition Team

RJ's Competition Team is focused on serious dancers who want to take their dance education to the highest pre-professional level. Directors seek dancers who demonstrate a genuine passion for dance, maintain consistent attendance, exhibit positive attitudes, and show strong coachability. We look for well-rounded dancers who excel in all styles of dance. Dancers must possess dedication, passion, hard work, and effort.

 

Our team is one of the most highly regarded in the country and regularly receives the highest placements and awards at prestigious regional and national competitions. This team dances among some of the nation's best dance studios and perform for top artists .We are incredibly proud to have been named the 2024 Kids Artistic Revue Studio of Excellence and the 2024 Masquerade Dance Studio of the Year, as well as to have received a 2025 Industry Dance Award nomination for Best Contemporary Dance and a 2026 Industry Dance Award win for Choreography of the Year! We are humbled and proud to work alongside some of the countries brightest studios and artists.

Dancers must audition in the summer to participate in the following year's competition season. Dancers wishing to audition are encouraged to attend open ballet and jazz classes during the summer and are REQUIRED to attend the Summer Intensive.

If selected, dancers are expected to attend 2 regional dance conventions, 3-4 regional competitions, and 1 national competition (every other year). Dancers also participate in local community events. Our competition directors determine the placement of students on the team and the number of competitive routines given to a dancer.​​​
